Siesta Key Toasted Coconut Rum is hand-crafted in small batches in Sarasota, Florida at our small, artisan distillery.
We make our toasted coconut rum by infusing rum with real toasted coconut. We do not use any artificial flavors or sweeteners. You can taste the difference.
Making coconut rum this way is a rarity in the rum industry where "coconut" rums are usually flavored by pouring liquid flavoring in the base rum. It is a lot of work to make toasted coconut rum the way we do here at Siesta Key rum. We think it's worth the effort.
Got Rum magazine said that Siesta Key Toasted Coconut rum is "something the rum industry has not seen before" and said it "raises the bar for every coconut rum in the U.S. marketplace".
Rum Connection called it "the best flavored rum EVER!".
Beer Barrel Spiced
Siesta Key Beer Barrel Spiced rum opened up a whole new category in the rum world: rum aged in used beer barrels.
It is the result of collaborations with craft brewers. Every batch is unique because the barrels are all different. The barrels have been used to age different beers and impart different flavors into our spiced rum.
The Limited Edition Beer Barrel Finish Spiced rum took the Best in Class gold medal at the largest dedicated rum competition in 2015.
Siesta Key Beer Barrel Finish Spiced Rum is available primarily through the tasting room at the distillery. Quantities of each batch are quite limited.
Siesta Key Gold rum is made from Florida molasses. We run a long fermentation to let the flavors fully develop. The fermented wash is then put through a pot still that is heavy with copper.
The pot still allows more flavor to pass through than a column still. The large amount of copper contact takes out harsh tasting elements in the rum.
The resulting distillate is then moved into once used bourbon barrels for aging. The current batch (25) is a blend of three to eight year old rums that were then aged for an additional eight months in used port wine barrels.
Siesta Key Gold rum has no added sweeteners or colorings. It is a pure rum that has wonderful rum flavors enhanced by oak from the barrels. It took the Best in Class medal at the well known Miami Rum Renaissance competition.
Siesta Key Spiced rum is made in small batches using old school methods. We make our spiced rum by infusing rum with real spices and then adding honey for a bit of sweetness. We do not use any artificial flavors or sweeteners. You can taste the difference.
The highly respected Caribbean Journal gave us the Rummy award for Best Spiced Rum of the Year for our Spiced rum in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. They called Siesta Key Spiced the best spiced rum on the market. They also said that the competition "wasn't close."
SK Spiced was named one of the best artisan products in the United States by Cooking Light magazine. Wine Enthusiast magazine gave it 91 points and called it a "Best Buy". Miami New Times called it "possibly the tastiest rum in the world."
Siesta Key Silver rum is distilled in small batches in Sarasota, Florida.
Siesta Key Silver was the winner of the Best in Class medal at the RumXP International Tasting Competition held during the Rum Renaissance festival. Called "smooth as beach glass" by Garden and Gun magazine. Cooking light magazine calls it "dangerously drinkable".
True small batch silver rum. Perfect as the base for cocktails or mixing with cola or juice.
Siesta Key Coffee is a coffee RUM, not a coffee liqueur. We make our coffee rum with real coffee beans and keep it at 70 proof.
When we first started experimenting with our coffee rum we tried different methods. We knew before even trying that we would not use coffee flavoring or concentrate. That is not how we do things. We tried using fresh liquid coffee. While the flavor was ok, it was too watered down.
In the end, the only way we could get full coffee flavor was by making the coffee rum in a similar way to making a quality cold brew coffee. No liquid flavors are used. No liquid coffee is used. No concentrates are used. The flavor of the locally roasted Columbian beans comes through beautifully.
While Siesta Key Coffee rum has caffeine, it is in small quantities. You would have to drink a lot of rum to get even a cups worth of caffeine.
The term "Distiller's Reserve" was not created by a marketing team to portray a particular image. Siesta Key Distiller's Reserve Spiced Rum was initially created by our distiller for his own personal enjoyment. It became so popular with family and friends that he eventually had to start making more! Supplies are still very limited and it is currently only available for purchase at the distillery tasting room starting at the end of September each year.
The Distiller's Reserve spends time in barrels in a traditional solera method. In the solera method the oldest rum is never fully emptied from the barrels. The flavors from the real spices, honey, and Florida sugar cane continue to refine over time. The result is a very special spiced rum best enjoyed neat or on ice.
The Caribbean Journal named Siesta Key Distiller's Reserve the best spiced rum avaialble anywhere in 2014. They said "It's getting to the point where we might have to change the name of this category to Siesta Key Rum of the Year. Three years three wins by the boutique distillery in Sarasota, Fla. This year, distiller Troy Roberts unveiled an even smaller batch rum, Distiller's Reserve, a solera-aged rum that acheives something almost unheard of in the spiced rum category: it's so good you can drink it neat."
Distiller's Reserve Spiced rum was rated 94 points by Wine Enthusiast magazine. This is a score almost unheard of for a spiced rum. They called it "remarkably complex for a flavored rum".
Siesta Key Distiller's Reserve Spiced rum took home two gold medals in the 2015 Rum Renaissance competition. One in the spiced rum category and one in the consumer category where it was up against long established rums with more than a decade in the barrel.
